Biography
I am originally from Lima, Perú, and currently, I am an assistant professor in Harvard's Physics Department working on the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. My work focuses on discovering new neutrino phenomena using atmospheric and astrophysical neutrino data. Besides my work in IceCube, I complement my experimental work by collaborating with theorists on neutrino phenomenology and performing global fits to the neutrino oscillation data.
My experience is rooted in data analysis, computational techniques, statistical methods (recently with a Bayesian twist), neutrino phenomenology, ultra-high-energy QCD, and high energy (astro)particle physics. Before my current appointment, I was a postdoctoral researcher at MIT in Janet Conrad's group and an honorary fellow at the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC). I did my Ph.D. studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison under the supervision of Francis Halzen. My undergraduate and master studies were at the Pontifícia Universidad Católica del Perú, where I worked in Alberto Gago's neutrino group. During my master studies, I had the opportunity to work at the Fermilab theory group under the supervision of Joachim Kopp and Marcela Carena as a Latin American Fellow. As an undergraduate student in physics, I was very interested in mathematics, particularly in probability theory, which led me to do summer studies at the Instituto de Matematicas Puras e Aplicadas (IMPA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Other relevant information. I like to reread Borges and a cute book from Neruda. Fan of Isaac Asimov. Star Trek and Star Wars are both amazing. Love seafood, but only if very fresh.
